With a skilful blend of compassion and clarity, Jo has honed her leadership communication training style over 25 years of managerial and coaching experience in Europe, North America, the UK and the Caribbean. Born in Jamaica, but having lived, worked, and been educated in several countries, JoAnn transfers the concept and feeling of ‘can do’, and guides clients to give form and words to their aspirations. 

 

Over a career in business and entrepreneurship, spanning leadership positions in century-old blue-chip companies, leading others to success in the Caribbean’s first business incubator, launching her own practice and a new career as an educator in Spain, JoAnn honed the business communication expertise, skills, and self-knowledge that she now models and teaches to clients in her Toronto-based practice, VATE Consultants Inc. 

JoAnn has trained thousands of professionals in corporations including RBC, TD Bank, Microsoft, Chubb Insurance, BCG, Cadillac Fairview and Sun Life. In her work with clients, JoAnn brings to bear her personal experience successfully navigating and mastering leadership in the corporate and entrepreneurial realms, the perspective of a woman of color, and her fine attunement to individual needs. Her keen sense of what’s needed has informed her trajectory, as she embraces uncertainty and change, she speaks on its behalf to clients with verve, clarity, and infectious confidence.

She holds an MBA in Strategy from City, University of London, and a BA in Business Management from The University of Western Ontario.
